Supporting Hawke’s Bay communities on the path to a shared, sustainable future

I te ngakau o ta tatou mahi

Everything we do starts with connection.

We’re working towards meaningful climate change response and adaptation, restoring local biodiversity, and enabling food and energy resilience across our region — all within natural economic and ecological boundaries.

By partnering with local businesses, organisations, and communities, we bring sustainable ideas to life through services, events, and education.
Got an idea or project in mind? We’d love to hear from you!

In case you missed it, we're more than just recycling

While we started as a centre for recycling, we have now grown into a catalyst for regional change — Sustainable HB connects people and action for a thriving Hawke’s Bay.

Biodiversity Regeneration

Together with our partners, we’re working to bring life back to the land — regenerating biodiversity across Hawke’s Bay through knowledge, action, and connection.

Rethinking Waste

From zero waste hubs to event solutions and food rescue, we’re creating smarter systems that keep resources in use and out of landfill.

Community Resilience

Building on our on-the-ground work during Cyclone Gabrielle, we aim to empower practical and fair solutions for community food, energy and climate  resilience.

Our Programmes

At Sustainable Hawke’s Bay, our programmes are built to empower real change - from the boardroom to the classroom to the orchard gate. We partner with businesses, schools, and industries across the region to deliver practical, impactful initiatives that restore our land, protect our waterways, and build resilience for the future. Every project we run is designed to turn good intentions into meaningful action, growing a stronger, more sustainable Hawke’s Bay for generations to come.
Businesses

Sustainable Hawke’s Bay partners with local businesses to create tailored sustainability plans that benefit both the environment and the bottom line. Whether it’s reducing waste, restoring native habitats, or improving water management, we help businesses become proud leaders in environmental stewardship.

Schools

We work alongside schools to inspire the next generation of environmental guardians. Through hands-on learning, restoration projects, and community action, we equip students and teachers with the knowledge and tools to drive positive change from the classroom to the wider world.

Households

Sustainable Hawke’s Bay supports local households to reduce their footprint and live more sustainably. From cutting food waste to improving home energy use, we offer simple, practical advice to help whānau save money and care for the environment. Ensuring our communities are fed and warm.

Partner Organisations

From funders and councils to grassroots groups and local businesses, each partner plays a vital role in helping us deliver real change for Hawke’s Bay. These relationships are built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating a more sustainable, resilient future for our region.
